lyrics

HIGHGROUND

We’re headed for the highground
We’ll leave the poor behind
They didn’t see it coming
Guess now they’ll have to drown.
They pulled their carts like donkies
With their blinkers they were blind
In the evening, force fed fodder
Of the soap celebrity kind.

We’re headed for the highground
In our gas guzzling trucks
We pretty much used up all the oil
Yes, every last little drop.
Good job we took the highground
Down there looks ultra grim
Every sunset is a purple apoplexy
All the clouds are dayglo green, upside down.

We gobbled up the lowlands
We really stuffed our cheeks
Chopped down all the trees, mined ore
Yeah, stripped out every seam.
Dammed the streams, gulped agua
Till we’d slurped the whole damned lot
We tore the crops from the soil
Pulled the plug ecological.

We’re headed for the highground
Where the flood tide cannot reach
We’ll teach our children sure enough to be
Spiritually rich.
Jack Lauren Tom Anuncia
Petitia Pronouncia and Earl
All now will have to learn the skills to be
Fit for the new world.

Tie dye, marquetry, poetry and
Self agrandisement
Karma Sutra positions
There’ll be time to practice it.
Cos let’s face is it there’ll be naff all else to do
Stuck up on this mount.
Sweet fanny else to do
Stuck up on highground
